Built by engineers who got tired of maintaining billing code

Flexprice was founded in 2021 in San Francisco to give SaaS teams the metering and billing infrastructure they never want to build again.

The story

Manish Choudhary spent several years in San Francisco building backend infrastructure at two B2B SaaS companies. At both, he watched billing get built as a side project — a sprinkle of proration logic here, a timezone workaround there. By the time each company had three pricing tiers and one enterprise customer with a committed minimum, the billing codebase had become the most-feared part of the system: untested, undertested, and touched only when something broke.

The second time Manish watched a team spend a full sprint debugging a proration edge case — only to ship a UTC-to-PST offset bug that surfaced at month close — he decided to build the infrastructure layer that both companies should have bought in the first place. Flexprice shipped its first public release in 2022.

The company is independently funded. We do not optimize for headcount growth or investor metrics. Every feature in the product was requested by an engineering team or a finance team that was doing something painful in a spreadsheet. We will not add a feature because it looks good in a pitch deck.

How we work

Correctness over speed

A billing system that ships fast and invoices wrong is worse than no billing system. We'd rather take the extra week to get proration right than ship a bug that erodes customer trust at renewal.

Billing transparency

Every invoice line item traces back to a metered event and a pricing rule. Customers and their auditors should always be able to verify a charge. Black-box billing is a trust problem.

Engineer-first design

Billing infra is bought by engineers and used by finance teams. The API must be a joy to integrate, the docs must be accurate, and the error messages must be actionable. We don't hide complexity with magic — and we are not a no-code billing tool that requires a support ticket to change an overage rate.

Sustainable growth

We're independently funded. That means we optimize for customer value, not investor metrics. Every feature we ship is one a paying customer asked for — not a feature for a deck.
